Sylvia SteevesReal Estate Advisor

Sylvia, the oldest of five sisters, began life as an “army brat,” entering the world at Ft. Bragg, NC. After early years in the military, her family moved back to New York State, where their roots were. As so often happens, her parents later moved the family to St. Petersburg after visiting Sylvia’s grandparents who had already moved there! Sylvia flourished in Florida, graduating from St. Petersburg High School and then the University of Florida where she fully participated in college life by joining a sorority and being a Gator cheerleader for three years. She graduated with a major in English and minors in history and psychology. She went on to teach English at Boone High School in Orlando and then decided that she wanted to see more of the world. She moved to San Francisco and worked for a year in the financial district before then returning to teaching in a middle school just north of the Golden Gate Bridge for two years. Once again Sylvia’s desire to see more of the world returned, and she took a job teaching on an American Air Force base near Tokyo, Japan. After exploring much of the Far East on every school holiday, the “sand in her shoes” beckoned, and she returned to Florida and taught in St. Petersburg and Seminole. During that time she earned her Master’s Degree in guidance and counseling at the top of her class. When her son and daughter were very young, she began her career in real estate in 1978. She earned her Broker’s license in 1981 and has been going strong ever since! Sylvia’s background and interest in English and psychology have been strong assets in her real estate career. Her writing skills and ability with words have helped her create outstanding marketing for her clients’ properties and have also helped in the very important realm of communicating with her clients and all the other people who are important to achieving the successful outcome of her client’s goals. Sylvia has always been a highly respected and successful realtor by consistently treating her clients’ needs as her highest priority. She has been told by numerous clients how much they appreciated the fact that she really listened to them. She feels that her clients are “family,” and her background in psychology also helps her understand people and their needs during the complicated real estate process.
